Promoting young entrepreneur

Climate protection, a reliable energy supply, and sustainable transport structures are big challenges for industries and society alike. To meet these challenges, we need innovative research, state-of-the-art technology, and experienced professionals. All of which are the hallmarks of a good university. As a cradle for new business ideas, universities help knowledge and technology blossom into practical applications – and thus unfold their full problem-solving potential.

The day and age in which we live is marked by crises, which is why we need creative, entrepreneurial ideas and actions more than ever before. In order for research ideas to establish themselves in society, we need to create parameters that encourage start-ups.

Supporting a strong ecosystem for start-ups

The WORLDFACTORY Start-up Center (WSC) breaches the gap between research and practical applications – because, ultimately, society can only benefit from research and new technology when theory is converted into practice. The WSC is the heart and soul of RUB’s focus on start-ups. Acting as a central port of call for start-up ideas, WORLDFACTORY offers up-and-coming entrepreneurs comprehensive support and advice throughout their entire start-up journey.

North Rhine-Westphalia’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitalization, and Energy awarded WORLDFACTORY the title “Excellence Start-up Center NRW.” This award underscores the significance of WORLDFACTORY as a leading institution in the field of start-up support.

Ruhr University focuses on providing two key areas of support for start-ups – incubators that are docked to top-level research at RUB, and FACE@RUB, a project providing special support to female academics who want to found a start-up.

RUB’s FACE@RUB platform supports female academics who want to establish their own start-up. The platform has received explicit praise in the scholarship program’s start-up radar.

Thanks to a holistic approach and close ties with Ruhr University Bochum, WORLDFACTORY plays a central role in supporting start-ups both inside and outside the region.
